Jupes found me in a cardboard box near the railroad tracks.  I have been wandering the virtual streets since leaving all of you in LW.  I am happy to be back.  The best times I ever had online were with LW and RB.  I told Jupes my PC is crappola so it won't run RoF.  I hope to get it rebuilt this summer.  Meantime….  S! all Cool

Salute, all!

I just realized where the heading for this post came from…

The Great Waldo Pepper

…one of the greatest airplane movies of all time, as I'm sure we all can agree.  It FINALLY came out on DVD this year and the wife got me a copy for my birthday.  Or was it last Christmas?  Whatever.

As Jupes already knows, I'm back in Green Bay (Wisconsin…go Bears!) after trying my hand at a new job in an entirely new industry with a way-too-small company in Lexington, Kentucky.  Too bad the gig didn't work out, because Lexington has got to be one of the prettiest cities I have ever seen…and I've been all over this great land of ours.  And I will sorely miss it this winter!

But it's great to be re-united with the family.  As you can probably imagine, the other half of this story is that we didn't have so much as a nibble on our beautiful house–this despite the fact that we had finally dropped the price to damn near what we paid for it back in 1996 when it was just a "spec" home sitting on a "weed lot" with absolutely zero landscaping.  Between the landscaping we had to do and the finished basement, we had over $75,000 into the place on top of what we paid for it…so we'd have really taken a bath on the place had we sold it.  Just as well it didn't, since the job wasn't at all what had been presented to me during the interview process last August.  I had to take a pretty stiff pay cut to get back here…but I consider myself fortunate to have found anything in today's shitty economy.

And I'm getting back into RoF slowly but surely.  Having been gone so long, I can't spend too much time on it…if you catch my drift.  The relocation deal with my now-former employer was I only got to come home for just a few days about once every 4-6 weeks….not every weekend (or every other weekend) like a big company would offer.
